The trailer for Vice's news show on HBO is here
Vice's nightly news show is set to debut in about a month -- and now the public has it's first real look at the tone and scope of the program. It is, unsurprisingly, very Vice. The new trailer dropped Monday morning and maintains the look and feel of Vice's on-the-ground journalism that has helped make it a growing force in the news industry. Vice has never been shy to hold itself up as a counterpoint to the rest of the media, and the trailer is no exception. "We now interrupt your regularly scheduled worldview," the trailer flashes at the opening, adding "no anchors, no sponsors, no censorship." The upcoming show is part of Vice's larger push into television, with the company now having its own cable channel thanks to an investment from A&E. Vice has been producing a weekly news show for HBO since 2013. The upcoming show, however, is maybe the company's most ambitious effort yet. Vice News Tonightwill be a daily half-hour show (Monday through Friday), and Vice has spared little expense in attracting a variety of journalists to make it happen. The company hired Josh Tyrangiel, who had been at Bloomberg, to run the show. He's since been promoted to oversee the company's global news operation, which has been growing steadily. The show will feature at least one climate change correspondent -- Arielle Dhaime-Ross, who was previously at The Verge. Tyrangiel appears to have high hopes for the show -- or at least the trailer.
